Set-Up QuickBooks for Service Oriented Business
1. You may need to set your Preferences to Track Time first (Edit -> Preferences -> Time & Expenses -> Company Preferences).
2. Enter your time at Customers -> Enter Time -> Use Weekly Timesheet.
3. Invoice your timesheets at Customers -> Invoice for Time & Expenses. As the name implies, you can also invoice for your job expenses by entering the customer/job on bills or checks and making them billable.
If you receive any payments for a session, enter it at Customers -> Enter Sales Receipts, and don't make the time billable on your timesheet.
You can then provide sales receipts for cash/check paid on the spot, invoices for one or more unpaid sessions, and statements for more than one unpaid invoice.
