Upgrading QuickBooks from 2006 to 2009

I'm concerned about upgrading from QuickBooks Premier 2006 to 2009 due to: (1) cost, (2) several users complaining about bugs and problems with 2009 installation and performance overall, (3) lack of customer support from QuickBooks and supposed requirement to pay for a support package, even with the new product. In considering sticking with 2006, but really disgusted with QuickBooks cutting off the email capability at the end of last month. Emailing is something that should be free and not dependent on what version one has. Is there a patch program or method of emailing quotations and invoices, without relying on the standard QuickBooks feature? Thank you kindly, for your time.
Intuit only supports the most recent three years of QuickBooks. Considering how long QuickBooks has been around, it would really become unmanageable, if they didn’t. That said, it is really annoying when simple services like email stop working. Unfortunately there are no patches that allow you to continue emailing forms, though you can still email reports by downloading them into Excel, then emailing as an attachment. There might be an add-on program available, but it would probably be more expensive than upgrading, and at some point, it too would stop working with the older versions of QuickBooks.
In terms of cost, you can usually find Premier for less than $300 and Pro for less than $100. You may find that Pro does everything you need. You do not have to buy a support plan; however, if you purchase direct from Intuit they may try to sell you one.
Most of the problems with 2009 were due to a massive change in online banking, and have been resolved with the R7 update. Many of our clients have been using it for months now, without any problems.
