How to Find Lost Invoices in QuickBooks
It’s also possible your file is corrupted. Start by doing a backup within QuickBooks, which verifies your data and lets you know if you need to do a rebuild. If that doesn’t work, try creating/restoring a portable file (sometimes you need to do this 2-3 times). You can create backup and portable files at File > Save Copy or Backup. You might also try exporting and importing your lists (File > Utilities). Re-sorting your list sometimes helps as well. Most lists can be found in the Lists menu. You can re-sort Customers/Vendors/Employees by clicking on Ctrl W, then Ctrl L, and then the Name button.

I have a quickbooks for Mac 2009. I am experiencing the same issues. invoices just up and disappear for no reason?
Luckily most of the time, we have been able to restore them. One time, we had to retype about 30.
I cannot upgrade to 2012 as 2012 will not operate with our item list.
I do know our files are corrupted.
I have rebuilt the files several times, sometimes twice in a row.
We are currently trying to change to a whole new software as we no longer have faith with Intuit.
Any ideas on how to uncorrupt our files?
Alan
Hi Alan,
Try this:

Unfortunately, QuickBooks 2009 is no longer supported so you won’t get any help from Intuit unless you upgrade. I’m not sure what you mean by QuickBooks 2012 not being able to operate your item list. in any case, it’s no longer available. Have you looked at QuickBooks 2013?
Ruth
Ruth,
I purchased Quickbooks for Mac 2012 and tried to upgrade to that but was unable to do that. The reason being our item code list would not come up properly when we invoiced. We have a large warehouse here and have many items. I sent my software off to Intuit/ India. And they claimed to have worked on it but said our files were corrupted, they could do nothing and told me to enter all of out items into the new item list in Q.B. 2012 I was in the process of doing that when later, we lost another 20-30 invoices that just for some odd reason vanish. I retyped them per our order blanks and then a week ago, we lost 5 months of data. But was lucky to have caught it in time and restored our files. As of yet, we have never used 2012, even though we paid for it a year ago. We have about given up on anything Intuit. We are now looking at a completely new software company because we are tired of being treated like wicked step children. Intuit has NEVER had as good of software for the Mac and many of their upgrades are really downgrades. I remember back in 2007 cursing Intuit when their ‘new and improved’ version was worse than the old! Inuit loves our money but hates us. We are those damned mac people.

Hi Alan,
I agree, I’m not a big fan of QuickBooks for Mac. Most of our Mac clients create a Windows environment using Parallels or VMWare so they can run one of the PC versions.
Ruth
Ruth,
THANKS For the help you gave when I get time, I’ll try that so we can try and prevent more data loss.
We appreciate you help even though Intuit could not care less. O wait, they do want my money.
