How to Create Barcode Labels in QuickBooks Point of Sale

I just downloaded QuickBooks Point of Sale 10.0 and the one question I have is, can I create the SKU numbers with this program, so they are correct for our business.
QuickBooks Point of Sale has three fields that can be used for barcode labels – a UPC field, an Alternate Lookup field, and the POS-generated item #. The UPC field should only be used for real 13-17 digit UPC codes because otherwise it’ll randomly add digits to make it 13. If it’s not a real UPC number, you should use the Alternate Lookup field instead.

When printing labels, make sure to select the correct template for whichever barcode field you decide to use.
